MCT SEA Opens New Qualification path To M Series
Moonton has introduced the MCT SEA, an expansion to the MLBB Championship Tour tournament after MCT EA and MCT AMER, that aims to elevate emerging teams from various regions for a chance to compete at the largest MLBB international tournament, the M Series World Championship.
Prior to the MCT SEA announcement, teams had two ways to qualify for the M Series. First, by winning their regional MPL league or M Series qualifier. If they fail to do so, by finishing in favorable positions, they have a chance to play in the M Series wildcard phase before securing qualifications to the group stage.
The MCT SEA tournament is aimed for teams from emerging regions, as well as teams from developmental leagues like MDL. This inclusion will provide a wider framework for teams to work towards the highest level of Mobile Legends esports.
Later down the line, the MCT framework will be expanded to the EECA and EMEA regions, strengthening the roadmap to international tournaments.

The first tournament will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 9 to 13. Teams will begin in the group stage, followed by a last-chance qualifier and knockout stage.
The MCT SEA will pit 12 teams from 11 different regions, with only 4 slots available to qualify for the M8 World Championship. The top two teams will go straight to the group stage, while the next best two teams will go to the wildcard.
Each Southeast Asian country will receive 1 participation slot through qualifications from their respective domestic leagues. Qualifications in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will go through from their respective MDL leagues, where they will be pooled in a separate table to play against each other. The best team will advance to the MCT SEA knockout stage.
With a total prize pool of USD 50,000, this is a chance for emerging teams to show what they can do on the international stage.
