Merah! Merah! Anime Japan!! Jakarta 2026 Starts Tomorrow
Japanese pop culture festival Merah! Merah! Anime Japan!! (MMAJ) Jakarta 2026 will officially take place on May 30–31, 2026, at Gandaria City in South Jakarta.
Making its debut in Indonesia, MMAJ Jakarta offers an international-scale anime and Japanese culture festival experience that combines entertainment, community engagement, and cross-border creative industry collaborations.
Over the course of two days, MMAJ Jakarta 2026 will feature a variety of programs, ranging from anisong concerts and anime screenings to interactive workshops and Meet & Greet sessions with popular Japanese characters and talents.
Confirmed guests are Yoko Ishida, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, Daruma Rollin, BANBANBAN Sameshima, Hayataku, Shiena Nishizawa, and Otoha.
MMAJ Jakarta 2026 also showcases a variety of Japanese intellectual properties (IPs) that already have a strong fan base in Indonesia.
Visitors can enjoy a closer look at popular characters and franchises such as Chibi Maruko-chan, Ultraman Omega, Ultraman Tiga, Rooster Fighter, and Gunpla.
As a festival that emphasizes community interaction, MMAJ Jakarta offers a variety of participatory activities for visitors and fans of Japanese culture.
One of its flagship programs is the Gundam Workshop, where visitors can learn to assemble Gunpla models hands-on alongside the community. This activity is intended not only as entertainment but also as an educational space that fosters creativity and strengthens the pop culture community in Indonesia.
MMAJ Jakarta 2026 will also take part in an effort to strengthen cultural and creative industry ties between Indonesia and Japan. The event is supported by the Ministry of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, the Embassy of Japan in Indonesia, JNTO, the Japan Foundation (JF), and JETRO.
MMAJ Jakarta 2026 will take place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. WIB, and Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. WIB, at Gandaria City Mall in South Jakarta. The festival is open to the public with no admission fee.
