PlayStation Shuts Down Bluepoint Games in a Cruel Twist
Out of thin air, Sony announced that PlayStation shuts down Bluepoint Games, their development studio responsible for remastering and remaking PlayStation’s old games repertoire.
Bluepoint was responsible for popular remasters and remakes such as Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Shadow of the Colossus, and Demon’s Souls.
They were also involved as a support studio for title ports and additional works. These include PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Flower, Titanfall, and God of War Ragnarok.
Bluepoint Games under PS Studios

Bluepoint was acquired by Sony in 2021, after their impressive work on PlayStation remasters, remakes, and ports. In particular, the Demon’s Souls remake marks the last time Bluepoint operates as an independent entity.
The studio soon became part of the extensive family of PlayStation Studios developers. But curiously, this is the part where the name Bluepoint took a backseat.
Since Demon’s Souls, Bluepoint hasn’t made any game, be it a remaster/remake/port or an original title. Their contribution during their PS Studios time was just additional work on Santa Monica Studios’ God of War Ragnarok.
Rumors circulated that they were producing a live-service God of War game until January 2025, when the project was cancelled. Bluepoint also pitched many project ideas, but it was shut down.
70 employees affected after PlayStation Shuts Down Bluepoint Games

On February 20, a Bloomberg report courtesy of IGN said that PlayStation has shut down Bluepoint Games. The closure will begin effectively next month.
About 70 employees will be affected by the layoff in the middle of an uncertain job market in the video game industry.
“Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team, and their technical expertise has delivered exceptional experiences for the PlayStation community,” said a PlayStation spokesperson.
“We thank them for their passion, creativity, and craftsmanship,” they continued.
