Avengers: Doomsday Trailer Released; Endgame Encore to Build Hype

The Avengers: Doomsday trailer has been released, showcasing worlds colliding to face a brand-new threat.

The fifth Avengers film will be yet another crossover event featuring various characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the consolidation of Marvel’s film rights from Fox, classic characters from Fox’s universe, such as the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, will take center stage.

The movie is set after the Thunderbolts* movie, where the New Avengers welcomed the arrival of the Fantastic Four team into their universe. As for the reason that they came… it’s not really good news.

Victor von Doom, known famously as Doctor Doom, is planning something that threatens the existence of various multiverses. Thor seems to fear Doom’s power and is thus calling for a heroes’ gathering.

But it seems that some of these heroes are fighting against each other. Tension between Wakandans and the Talokans is becoming more intense. Meanwhile, the original Avengers seem to take offense at the establishment of the New Avengers. Will these heroes unite to face a common threat of Doctor Doom?

The films will also reunite MCU and Avengers veteran crews, such as directors Joe and Anthony Russo, as well as writers Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. Alan Silvestri returns as the composer.

To kick off the release of Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Endgame will be re-released as Avengers: Endgame Encore in theaters. This re-release will feature about 7 minutes of new content, including a new intro, bonus scenes, and a new scene that will lead into Avengers: Doomsday.

“It’s critically important to re-release the movie, and, in fact, we’ll be re-releasing the film with footage that is set in the Doomsday story that we have added to Avengers: Endgame,” said Joe Russo in an interview.

“You don’t always get the chance to re-release because it costs money, so the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we worked with for years that we love so much and continue their story: It’s a really unique opportunity.”

Avengers: Doomsday will release alongside Dune: Part Three on December 18. Its planned sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, will follow suit on December 17 next year.
