Mother of Tanks Duel Rekindled: A Rematch Between Ashlay and Vivian
Team Vitality will face Gen.G this afternoon (Paris time) in the second round of MWI 2026‘s group stage during the Esports World Cup 2026. This match will be a rematch for their top roamers, Ashlay and Vivian, who met at the grand finals.
Fighting for Gaimin Gladiators back then, Ashlay was one of the rising stars in the MWI 2025. So much so that even Ashlay would love to face Vivian and beat her to become the “Mother of Tanks.”
Unfortunately, Vivian and Team Vitality were so strong that Gaimin Gladiators was beaten 4-0. A big ambition turned into a small footnote to Team Vitality’s unbeatable streak.
Now that Ashlay will face Vivian again in the second day of MWI, an old flame is reignited. The duel to settle who’s the true Mother of Tanks will start once again.
It was all started one hour before Gaimin Gladiators faced Team Vitality at the MWI 2025 grand finals. During a pre-match interview, Ashlay issued a challenge to Team Vitality, especially Vivian.
“I want to be the Mother of Tanks,” said Ashlay. The comment came from her similarity with Vivian. Both are roamers that held the team together like glue. “We’re going to find out who the real Mother of Tanks is.”
Responding to Ashlay, Vivian jokingly said that the claim was pretty out of left field. “It seems like she needs some sleep; maybe she can become one in her dreams.”
When the match began, Ashlay and Gaimin weren’t able to stop Team Vitality’s domination. The match ended in a landslide 4-0 score, handing the MWI 2025 title to Vivian and the team. And this is the moment where the classic taunt from Vivian came.
At the post-match interview, Vivian grabbed the mic and invited Ashlay into her world: the MLBB women’s scene dominated by Team Vitality.
“For you, Ashlay, are you still in your dream? Come into my dream! Is this a dream or reality? My dream is so beautiful, come here!”
We had a short, yet exclusive, interview with Vivian after Team Vitality’s first match at the MWI 2026. We asked her who deserved to challenge the title of Mother of Tanks from her, and it seems that Vivian has become a little bit humble after her last year’s defining moment.
“In my opinion, it doesn’t matter who’s worthy or not. It’s up to the fans to decide. Just show off your skills and you’ll get what you deserve,” she said.
Of course, everyone has their eyes set to Team Vitality, and they also improved their gameplay. One of the examples is China’s SAETA, who beat Indonesia’s Falcons Vega in a clean 2-0 result.
Even more so, Ashlay also looking to have a rematch against Vivian for the Mother of Tanks title. Despite the defeat, she still believes she’s one of the best female roamers.
“To be honest, deep down I still believe I’m the Mother of Tanks. But that match was really good—they (Vitality) are the stronger team,” said Ashlay after last year’s defeat.
