ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 Is an Upgrade to the Beefy Handheld PC

ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has officially announced the latest ROG Xbox Ally X20 for the global market, launching it to coincide with the 20th anniversary of ASUS ROG.

Featuring a transparent black chassis and a striking gold-colored internal structure, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 brings the latest ROG Nebula HDR display to the Ally series for the first time, featuring a stunning 7.4-inch OLED panel.

The ROG Nebula HDR display offers a fast 120Hz refresh rate, supports FreeSync Premium Pro, and delivers a peak brightness of 1,400 nits for exceptional HDR performance.

With VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, full Dolby Vision support, and a 0.2 ms response time, all content is displayed quickly, brightly, and clearly.

Additionally, thanks to Corning DXC glass and an anti-glare coating that reduces glare by up to 65%, users can enjoy the best gaming experience without any worries.

The cooling system on the ROG Xbox Ally X20 has been redesigned to direct more airflow directly to the APU and help keep the display’s surface temperature as low as possible.

Inspired by the iconic Xbox controller design, the ROG Xbox Ally X20 features a transforming D-Pad. In its original form, the D-Pad is designed for standard four-way movement, but it can easily be transformed into an eight-way control scheme ideal for fighting games.

The buttons on the front have also been adapted and refined, now sitting flush with the body to allow for smooth, unobstructed movement. On the back of the grip, a rubber coating provides comfort and better control during long gaming sessions.

The ROG Xbox Ally X20 also enhances the gaming experience with the latest TMR joystick technology, delivering high precision, smoother tracking, and more durable performance. Designed to eliminate drift while boosting responsiveness, this advanced joystick translates every micro-movement exactly as intended, with higher precision than Hall effect sensors.

This handheld PC is equipped with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB of high-speed LPDDR5X RAM, and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage. Xbox Mode is also available for smooth navigation and gaming experiences.

Players can even access Auto SR, designed to make games look sharper and run smoother. Previously available only on Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs, Auto SR can efficiently upscale rendered frames at lower resolutions to deliver smooth gameplay on larger screens without sacrificing sharpness.

The ROG Xbox Ally X20 is bundled with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 AR gaming glasses. It features a 171-inch virtual display at a 4-meter distance, a 240Hz display covering 95% of the focused field of view, and an almost instantaneous 0.01ms response time thanks to micro-OLED.

Native 3DoF tracking allows the display to follow head movements, and Anchor Mode keeps it in place while you play.

The headset connects directly to the Ally via a single USB Type-C cable for a seamless setup, with seamless Command Center integration and a matching black-and-gold color scheme.
