RRQ Not Pressured From “Korean Slayer” Nickname
After losing to Nongshim RedForce in the upper bracket final of the 2026 VCT Pacific Kickoff, Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) from Indonesia did not feel any pressure, despite being nicknamed “Korean Slayers.”
In the 2025 VCT Pacific Stage 2 tournament, RRQ somehow drew against three Korean teams in the lower bracket playoffs: Gen.G, DRX, and T1. Yet somehow, RRQ managed to beat them all and was able to reach the grand final. Thus, the nickname was born.
Expectations were pretty high during their match against Nongshim, especially when the stakes were quite high. Guaranteed first slot for the 2026 VALORANT Masters Santiago, plus 4 Pacific Points, is something that your team doesn’t want to miss.
Yet, RRQ fell short after losing 3-2 to Nongshim. RRQ had a good lead on the first map but got overtaken until Nongshim reached match point. Despite being able to reach an equalizer, RRQ couldn’t hold on to their momentum and lost the final map by a sizable margin.
RRQ fully controlled by Nongshim

During the online press conference that was attended by DoubleXP, Cahya Nugraha (Monyet) from Rex Regum Qeon said that the factors weren’t aligned for his team to secure the victory against Nongshim RedForce.
“We’re unlucky, I say, especially on the second and third maps. Like, really a lot of bad luck, I don’t know,” said Monyet.
Regardless of the result, he enjoyed playing against Nongshim and already took the match as a great lesson for improvement.
“It’s really fun to play against Nongshim. They controlled us really hard, and I think after we watched the replay, we understood why we lost to them badly. I think we kind of figured it out already after we played,” he explained.
RRQ is not pressured from “korean Slayer” nickname

We also asked about their mental state, whether the “Korean Slayer” nickname from last year’s VCT Pacific gave RRQ pressure or some kind of urge to prove the team’s ability.
“Not really, because it’s like something that happened last year. I don’t think we really care about the title of Korean Slayers. I don’t think anyone (in the team) really cares about it,” Monyet stated.
He explains that the team are just focusing on their match and gameplay, with little time to care about what others say about them. Monyet also found the circumstance behind that nickname to be funny, so he paid no mind to its weight.
“The title is just like something funny for us because somehow we just played all the Korean teams last year, and then we just somehow beat them. But yeah, I don’t think we have any pressure from that title, really,” Monyet continued.
Today, RRQ will play against another Korean team, T1, in the mid-bracket final of the 2026 VCT Pacific Kickoff. Make sure you’re tuning in on the official channels at 16:00 UTC+7.
