MSL Thailand: This is Everything You Need to Know
Moonton Games officially launched MSL Thailand, the first Mobile Legends: Bang Bang league in the country. 10 teams will participate in this officially sanctioned league.
Thailand’s reintegration into the MLBB esports scene is integral to Moonton’s five-region ecosystem that they implemented for the 2026 season.
“Our mission is to bring thrilling games to players. Based on this core mission, we have started investing in Thailand since the second half of 2024 and realized that MLBB can bring new experiences to Thailand,” said Wei Guo, Head of Game Publishing, Thailand, at Moonton Games, during a press conference session at the Chatrium Hotel Bangkok on March 18.
With the increasing popularity of MLBB in Thailand and all over the world, Moonton felt it was the right time for MLBB to reenter the Thailand market as well as bolster its esports scene.

To support and incentivize the participating teams, Moonton has introduced a total fund of THB 10 million, tied to the competition’s prize pool and community development initiatives for each season.
“Our country has a strong esports industry, and with MLBB, we can do something great. I hope people see us at M8 and international competitions as well,” said Phongpanod Rueangarrirat, co-owner and player of King of Gamers.
“The main thing is the pathway. There are more opportunities for Thai esports athletes to follow their dreams and eventually reach global events. Thailand is ready to take this opportunity, and now there’s finally a league that leads to a world-class championship,” added Chotchanok Chidchob, team owner of Buriram United’s esports division.
The tournament format

The regular season of MSL Thailand will be held offline at Lido Connect. Starting on 18 April, the regular season will last 5 weeks and then will continue to the playoffs.
The winners of the first season of MSL Thailand will go directly to the MSC 2026 wildcard, while the second-place team will have to fight for another slot in the M Challenge Cup Mekong alongside countries like Vietnam, Timor-Leste, Laos, and Brunei.
For its second season, the winner will also go directly to the M8 World Championship wildcard at Bangkok. The second-place team has to go through the MLBB Championship Tour SEA first to secure their spot.
“Through the MCT: SEA Tour, Thai teams now have a clear pathway from local competition to the world stage. This structure ensures that Southeast Asia’s strongest teams earn their place internationally, and we believe Thailand will play an important role in shaping the next chapter of MLBB esports,” explains Tiger Xu, Global Head of MLBB Esports at Moonton Games.
Moonton addressing MLBB’s problem in Thailand

During the unveiling of MSL Thailand, Hao Zhen Siew, Head of MLBB Esports, Thailand, at MOONTON Games, identified problems that plagued MLBB in Thailand that prevented the game from growing as expected.
“What was missing over time were structural links that allowed talent to sustain and scale. We identified three key gaps: a consistent professional league that teams could plan around, clear long-term pathways for players and staff, and a stable connection to MLBB’s global competitive esports calendar,” Hao Zhen explained.
He added that MSL Thailand addressed these problems with guaranteed continuity, professionalism, and direct integration to the global MLBB esports ecosystem.
“Bridging the gap is about systems and sustainability, not just individual results. Closer integration with international competition also gives Thai teams consistent benchmarks to measure progress and adapt,” Hao Zhen continued.
As the spring season of MLBB esports begins, we will look forward to seeing what Thailand’s MLBB teams can offer to the global scene.
The first season of MSL Thailand will start on April 18.
