This is Everything You Need to Know About MPL Indonesia Season 17

MPL Indonesia Season 17 will finally begin tomorrow, March 27, 2026. This is the start of a new page in Indonesian MLBB esports history.

The tournament also coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game. MPL Indonesia is not pulling any punches to make season 17 a moment to be remembered fondly.

Held in cooperation with PBESI, EKRAF, Infinix, and other partners, MPL Indonesia season 17 once again will become the first hurdle for all its nine participating teams to qualify for MSC 2026 in the Esports World Cup 2026 event.

As the milestone of every MLBB tournament all over the world, MPL Indonesia will once again set the standard of an esports event full of spectacle and festivities.

This is everything you need to know about MPL Indonesia Season 17.

Tournament format

The MPL Indonesia Season 17 tournament will once again be held in two tournament phases: the regular season and the playoffs.

The regular season will still utilize the double round-robin format and is the “meat” of this tournament. Teams will play in a home-and-away format, and all matches will be played in a best-of-3 system.

The team’s position will be tallied based on their match victories. Each win will grant 1 point, while losers get nothing. The top 6 teams at the end of the regular season will advance to the playoffs, while the rest get knocked out.

In the case of matching points between lower-position teams, a tiebreaker could be implemented to decide which team will move forward.

The playoffs will use a hybrid elimination format. Teams seeded in 3rd to 6th positions will play against each other in a “play-ins” match. Winners will advance to the upper bracket, while losers are knocked out.

The tournament will then move into a double elimination format where play-ins teams will fight against the top 2 teams. Losers are relegated to the lower bracket, and if they lose again, they are gone for good.

The tournament will advance until two teams from the upper bracket and the lower bracket meet in the grand final. While the match will determine the MPL Indonesia Season 17 champion, ultimately the two teams are automatically qualified for MSC 2026’s group stage.

This season marks the departure of some Indonesian talent overseas due to the establishment of MPL Malaysia’s franchise system and also a further improvement in teams’ player development program.

Savero (ONIC) and Aeronnshikii (TLID) became the first ever imported players in MPL Philippines. Meanwhile, Malaysia’s RRQ Tora, Bigetron MY, and a few other teams also took some Indonesian players under their wing.

A few of the biggest transfer news are new imports such as Kelra (ONIC), Pheww (EVOS), and Dan (RRQ). Coach Ynot also moved to NAVI, having won many trophies with ONIC PH.

Local transfers include Super Kenn (RRQ), Yehezkiel (RRQ), Luke (EVOS), and Reyy (AE). The rest are largely the same.

We also saw a sizeable intake of young players, with Team Liquid ID entrusting their young bloods with the main roster position. Bigetron is perhaps the team to look for since they have the MDL-winning players like Cliveee.
