MPL ID S17 Week 2 Day 2 Recap: More Teams Leaving Winless Pit
The second day of MPL Indonesia Season 17, week 2, marked a moment for the lower-ranked teams to bounce back, as they finally got their deserved victory.
After suffering a drought, Alter Ego and Geek Fam obtained their first victory, thus elevating their places in the table.
As of today, only RRQ Hoshi has yet to win a single match. Hopefully today would change that fact. Meanwhile, check out yesterday’s match recap below, and rewatch the entirety of it here.
Match 1: Geek Fam vs Bigetron

Geek Fam finally obtained their first victory this season, and it’s against Bigetron by Vitality, no less. It’s all thanks to the brilliant gameplay of Marcel, the player, not the hero.
The EXP laner was playing aggressively since the first game, controlling the opposition using his Sora. It opens the room for his teammate to swoop in for the kill and secure the first game.
Marcel’s performance is also consistent in the second game, with Geek Fam keeping up the offensive while Bigetron has to retreat gradually to strengthen their defenses. A 2-0 straight win for Geek Fam in a match that surely will improve their morale.
Match 2: Alter Ego vs EVOS

Alter Ego faced a huge hurdle as EVOS finally brought in the legendary midlaner Pheww. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a match to remember for the Filipino player.
Another Sora has brought ruin to the opposition, as Luke targeted Alter Ego’s backline and made a mess of Xepher’s plan. After securing the first game, EVOS got lagged as Arfy’s Granger was too deadly to be stopped.
With the match moving to the third game, Alter Ego successfully turned the tide with a wipeout that brought an end to the match fairly quickly. Another first victory, this time for Alter Ego, who needed this momentum.
Match 3: Team Liquid vs Dewa United

It takes a cavalry to beat a dark horse. Team Liquid ID extended their win streak by beating Dewa United in a closely contested match.
TLID snatched the first game from a smart move from Lyoni’s Chip. His teleportation skills proved to be a key factor to weaken Dewa United from their back. Anak Dewa equalized the score after Octa and Muezza piled in on TLID’s blunder.
In the last game, both teams fought hard and close, not giving an inch in every moment. But TLID carved their way in through Dewa United’s towers. Dewa United defended well, but it’s not enough to maintain their win streak.
