F1 Movie Sequel Finally Confirmed by producer
Movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that an F1 movie sequel is currently in the works.
Based on the popular motorsport series Formula 1, F1 tells the tale of Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), a racer who returned to the world of Formula 1 after 30 years of absence due to an accident.
Since arriving at the doors of the APXGP F1 team, Sonny has to grapple with racing against young hotshot Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) while trying hard to squeeze into every nook and cranny to improve the team’s performance.
The movie was shot during actual Formula 1 seasons and featured cameos from fellow F1 drivers and personalities.
It was one of the best movies of 2025 as well as a box office success. It grossed USD 633.1 million worldwide against a USD 200–300 million budget.
F1 also received four Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Film Editing, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects.
producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirms F1 movie sequel

Speaking to the BBC, producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that he is currently working on an F1 movie sequel.
Despite the confirmation, details about the sequel have not yet been set in stone. There are no timeline details, no casting updates; even Brad Pitt hasn’t yet given a statement that he will return.
Regardless, Bruckheimer stated that he will still be involved heavily in the project, especially in casting decisions. Regarding that matter, he gave an ambiguous statement.
“I never worked with Brad Pitt before, and it’s really a thrill to work with Brad,” he said.
Development for the F1 movie sequel is currently running in the background, with Bruckheimer also talking to fellow producer and actual F1 champion Lewis Hamilton about possibilities for the second movie.
“We’re talking to Lewis Hamilton. We’re getting it going through him and pitching him the ideas and seeing what he thinks,” Bruckheimer said in another interview with People.
Apple and Formula 1 keen to capitalize on movie’s success

Not long before, Apple and Formula 1 executives also expressed their interest in working on a sequel to the F1 movie. During Apple TV’s press day, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and Apple executive Eddy Cue discussed the possibility.
“We’re going to tell you something more in the future. Never say never. But we need to digest more the success of this movie because it was something unique,” said Domenicali.
“And if you want to think of a new one, it has to be really, very, very good. Therefore, if this were to happen, it would not be for next year,” he added.
As the sequel is still in early stages, let’s hope that this movie has something interesting to add to the legacy of Formula 1, the fastest racing series in the world.
